Clubhouse Openings this week (w/c 28/10)

All,
Hopefully you all had a good weekend. Congratulations go to all the Mens sides for their 3 victories from 3.
At the time of writing we have just the 1 game scheduled for this weekend. Millwall Llamas will host Billericay II in the rescheduled Merit Table fixture postponed from the 26th October.  The game will KO at 14.00 on Millwall Park. For those of you who aren't playing this weekend, make sure you get down and show your support.

The club will be open this week during the following times;

Wednesday - "Training & Curry Night" - DM GH open from 7.30PM
Make sure you come down to the club on the Wednesday. For those of you who play, please keep up the effort and the great numbers we have seen on recent training sessions. We are on an upward curve as a club and we don't want to loose momentum. Curry will be ordered/served for those who want it as well.

Friday - Karen's Weekend Warmup - DM KA open from 7.30PM
Karen will be opening this Friday to ease you into the weekend!

Saturday - "Super Saturday" - DM AM open from 4PM
The clubhouse will be in Adrienne's capable hands this Saturday and will open around the end of the Llamas game on Millwall Park. So you have no excuse/distraction to come down and SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!!!! We look forward to seeing you!
We will record the England v Australia Autumn International to show once the clubhouse is open.

Sunday - "Photoshoot No.1" - ES running from 12noon to 3pm ("Closed Set")
12noon - 1.30pm Ladies Only
1.30 - 2pm Mixed
2pm - 3pm Men Only

Appeal for Help - We are looking for help in 2 key areas at the moment
1) URGENT - Photographer (or 2) to help Edna out with the Calendar photo-shoots between 12 & 3pm on Sunday 3rd and Sunday 10th November - please email ladieschair@millwallrugby.com letting her know what dates/times you can help with.
2) More volunteer Duty Managers and Bar Staff (especially so we can open the club earlier on Saturdays) - please email gareth@millwallrugby.com if you are willing to help your club.

Training this week - Wednesday 30 October

Guys,

Firstly a huge congratulations on 3 wins from three for the mens section on Saturday.  There's a consistency in teams across the club and it is beginning to show the results for your efforts.

That said, November is a key month.  Whilst the number of games is less than we'd like, we have to keep focus for the cup match on 16th November and then the league match at home to Stanford Le Hope on 23rd November.  For this to happen, we must keep training and improving...please ensure you treat the next few Wednesdays as if we have a league match on the Saturday and ensure we keep improving by turning up to training every week.  We are on an upward curve, lets not slow down now.

See you Wednesday.

David

Clubhouse Openings this week

All,
Hopefully you all had a good weekend. Congratulations go Venus for chalking up a strong victory in their friendly against a strong 35+ players side

We have 4 games scheduled for this weekend. Saturday the 1sts are at home on Millwall Park in a top of the table clash at 2.30pm, 2nds are away in a cup clash at 2.45pm, 3rds are at Hackney Marshes at 3pm. Sunday Venus Ladies are at home in a 2.30pm kick off on Millwall Park.  This should make for a great weekend down at the club, so make sure you get down and show your support.
The club will be open this week on the following evenings;

Wednesday - "Training/Curry Night" - DM GH open from 730PM
Come down to the club on the Wednesday and see how long it takes Gareth to put up the signed Lions Shirt a members consortium has kindly donated to the club. I predict it will take him less time than it took Tim to put up a few (un-level) small pictures ;-) Curry will be ordered/served for those who want it as well.

Friday - Karen's Weekend Warmup - DM KA open from 730PM
Karen will be opening this Friday to ease you into the weekend! And this Friday we will also be celebrating Kathy Garwood's birthday.

Saturday - 'Breakfast Club' Development Meeting - club open from 10am to 12noon
This meeting is YOUR chance to develop YOUR club with RFU staff in attendance to pass on their experience (and to have some brekkie) - see details from our Lady Chair

Saturday - "Super Saturday" - DM KA open from 4PM
Karen has very kindly agreed to volunteer to be DM for 2 days on the bounce in order to ensure the club opens  on Saturday after the 1sts game on the park. So if anyone is trained and willing to help out as bar staff please let her know - without enough volunteers we cannot open/run the bar. If you are not playing then make sure you come down to watch one of the 3 games today. SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!!!! We look forward to seeing you!

Sunday - "Ladies Day" - DM GH open from 4PM - 8PM
Gareth will be opening the clubhouse on Sunday after the Ladies game to ensure that lost fluids are replaced, so why not pop down and cheer on the girls then quench your thirst. Before dozing on the sofa whilst you better half/flatmates watch some mind-numbing reality TV show (your experience may vary and is subject to terms and conditions)

Appeal Bar Staff/Duty Managers - If you have always fancied running a bar or just helping out let paulfisher@millwallrugby.com or gareth@millwallrugby.com know and we will arrange a training session (beer sampling will form a large part of the training to ensure your skills are perfected!!!).

One of the benefits of working the bar is that you spend less as you get drinks offered to you all the time - or maybe that's just me because of my good looks?? A DM has extra duties such as opening/closing but is fundamentally the same as bar staff (but you do get a set of shiny keys for the night, if that helps??)

Appeal for Models - Do you have a 'Blue Steel' look, or are you more of a Right Said Fred "do your little turn on the catwalk" kind of person?? If so.... Millwall needs you!! We are planning to create 'his' and 'hers' 'tastefully nude' versions of a Millwall Rugby Club calendar with balls and tackle pads strategically placed. We are hoping that this highly sought after calendar will be in all good (adult) bookshops in time for Christmas post to our ex-pat friends and families/enemies.

We are aiming to run 2 photo-shoot sessions over the first 2 weekends in November (prob Sun 3rd and Sun 10th) - so keep this date clear in your diaries. We have 1 'willing' male and 1 'willing' female photographer and around 6 'models' at the moment so you don't need to be bashful...

To register your interest for this, please let Gareth H know on gareth@millwallrugby.com so we can gauge balance/interest (please don't send him pictures of your poses!!!)

Games this weekend - 26th/27th October 2013

Evening Millwall,

A huge week for the club ahead with all four teams having matches and the 1sts and 2nds engaged in probably the most important matches of the season so far for each team.

The 1sts welcome Burnham on Crouch to Millwall Park, currently one bonus point ahead of us at the top of the table (kick-off 14.30).

The 2nds play Stanford-Le-Hope in the preliminary round of the Essex JAT cup. (kick-off 14.45).

The 3rds are playing Pegasus Palmerians at Hackney Marshes (kick-off 15.00).

Let us know if you can play for the mens sides by emailing selection@millwallrugby.com

The Venus are playing on Sunday against Kilburn, 14.30 kickoff on Millwall Park.

Also, there is a club development meeting in the morning before the games on Saturday at the clubhouse. it begins at 10am and the Facebook event is here with further details: http://on.fb.me/1gWSezk. I've heard there will be breakfast there too...

It's been a good season so far and there's a great vibe around the club so let's keep that up with four big wins this weekend.

Cheers,

Cookie

A message from Lady Chair

There is a real buzz around the rugby club at the moment. Many new faces have joined us this season and have quickly settled in to the ‘We play hard on AND off the pitch’ attitude that has long been upheld at Millwall.

Success is beginning to be reaped on the pitch and ‘The Committee’ are determined to ensure that you, the members, continue to receive the support, facilities and resources that you and the rugby club need going forward.

The Committee is here to represent you and to drive the club forward in the direction that you want.

In order to support this aim The Committee have invited the RFU (Neil Sweeney) to run a ‘Development Planning’ workshop on Saturday 26th October, at the Clubhouse from 10am to 12pm. If you are on Facebook, please 'join' this event to say you can make it.

We need your views on where you want the club to be in 1,2,3 years time and your suggestions on what we need to do to get there.

The Committee acknowledges that The Club faces a number of barriers and challenges, many of which are unique to Millwall. We need your perspective on what these are and how we might all work together in overcoming them.

A start was made in collating views through the online survey and a ‘BIG THANK YOU’ to those who were able to find the time to complete this. The outcomes from this survey will form the starting point for the discussions on Saturday 26th October.

It is important that as many members attend as possible. It is crucial that you use this opportunity to have your say and support Millwall Rugby Club moving forward.

As a small incentive and thank you for attending, bacon butties and sausage rolls will be provided.

Please encourage as many members and players as you can to attend.

I look forward to seeing you all there.

Clubhouse Openings this week / Poppy Appeal / 2014 Calendar

All,
Hopefully you all had a good weekend. Congratulations go to Sean and Sophie and 1sts and 2nds for 2 great victories!
We have one game scheduled for this weekend, with Venus Ladies at home to LSE in a friendly (Provisional 1330 kick off).  This should make for a good day & night down at the club, so make sure you get down and show your support. We are also trying to arrange a mens friendly match to be played after the ladies game, so keep an eye on your phones and the website!!

The club will be open this week on the following evenings;

"Curry Wednesdays" - DM GH open from 730PM
Gareth's holiday tan has already faded and the weather has turned colder. So save on your heating bills, come on down and order some hot curry and listen to the relaxing tunes on Clubland TV (other music channels are available!!)
Adrienne's Weekend Warmup - DM AM open from 730PM
Adrienne will be opening this Friday to ease you into the weekend!

Saturday main event - DM SMc open from 3PM
Our very own chairlady, Sarah,  will be opening the club after the Venus game to revel in post match stories. Join your team mates. If you are not playing then make sure you come down to watch Venus in their home game. SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!!!! We look forward to seeing you!

Volunteer Requests:

1) Poppy Appeal - Please put your name down on the list at the bar (or email paulfisher@millwallrugby.com) to give just 2 hours of your lives to help support those who have given so much more (and some have given their lives). This is a prime opportunity to show our community we support them. It involves handing out poppies at Canary Wharf station (in Millwall colours) for just 2 hours of your life between 5 & 7pm on 1 weekday evening between 28th Oct and 8th Nov. As a club we raised over £1500 for this worthy cause last year - LETS GO TO WORK and smash this target!!

2) Appeal for Models - Do you have a 'Blue Steel' look, or are you more of a Right Said Fred "do your little turn on the catwalk" kind of person??

The date for this photo-shoot is looking like Sunday 3rd November at the clubhouse - so keep this date clear in your diaries. We have 1 'willing' male and 1 'willing' female photographer so you don't need to be bashful...

To register your interest for this, please let Gareth H know on gareth@millwallrugby.com so we can gauge balance/interest.

Hopefully you all had a good weekend. Congratulations go to Randall and Sophie and 1sts and 2nds for 2 great victories!

We have four games scheduled for this weekend, with the 2nds at home (1430 kick off).  This should make for a really busy Saturday night down at the club, so make sure you get down and celebrate three victories with your team mates before crawling to the 5 bells. The 4th victory will come on the Sunday when Venus play.

The club will be open this week on the following evenings;

"Curry Wednesdays" - DM GH open from 730PM
Thats right, Gareth's back from holidays with his 'light tan'. We have recorded the NZ v SA game from Saturday and we will be showing it again for those who want to watch it. So come on down and order some curry and spend the evening listening to Gareth P and Sean R waxing lyrical about southern hemisphere rugby.

Saturday main event - DM GH open from 3PM

Calling all coaches!

Have your say in the development of the club - complete our survey now.

Millwall RC are working with the RFU to produce a development plan which will be used to determine the future direction and work of the club.

As part of this process we shall, with the support of Neil Sweeney, the RFU’s Rugby Development Officer for this area and his colleagues, be conducting a workshop with a cross-section of club members to ensure that issues of relevance across the board are raised and included.

To inform the event, the RFU has provided us with access to a pre-prepared web-based questionnaire, the results of which will be used to inform workshop discussion.

This survey (via the link below) is very short and should take you no longer than five minutes to complete.

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NXC32Y8

I would urge you to complete the survey as it is very important to the club that a wide cross-section of members feed in their views.

The number of attendees at the workshop will be limited, but we will make sure that a representative group of club members attends.

Thank you for your support!
