Chattels of London sponsors Millwall's 1st XV!!

I am delighted to announce that the new 1st XV shirts have arrived, supplied by the 1st XV team sponsor Chattels of London

Most of you will know that Chattels of London have sponsored the 1st XV for the whole of this season, but a few issues with the shirt manufacturer mean that we have only just received the kit.

As well as new shirts for the first team, Chattels of London are providing water bottles for the whole club. They also put a full-page advert in The Wharf newspaper for the club at the start of the season, which many of you will have seen.

James Kearns of Chattels is a very active member of the club, not only will you often see him in the clubhouse enjoying a pint, but he is also working with us to try and develop an under 6 year olds section.

Chattels are offering a very generous discount, just for Millwall Rugby Club members. They are offering a 20% discount on their standard fees for selling a property and will waive their administration fee for anyone renting a property through them. Just tell them you are a member of the club when you first make contact and, upon verification of your valid membership, you will receive your discount. Also, for any member who recommends a client to Chattels of London that leads to a successful transaction, they will offer £100 gift vouchers for the retailer of your choice.

James Kearns said “Chattels of London are proud to be sponsoring Millwall Rugby Club and hope that this is the start of a partnership that will see the first team push from strength to strength. We believe that competitive sport encourages team spirit and hope this will extend beyond into the local community to give us a local team we can all support and enjoy!”

I would like to thanks James Kearns of Chattels for his support and for what I think will be a great partnership for the club.

There are plenty of potential sponsors out there. You know some yourself. The more introductions we can all make, the better the club can be. So, if you can think of anyone who might want to support the club, please let me know.

Be Part of Rugby World Cup 2015! Club Volunteer Applications.

Rugby World Cup (RWC) 2015 takes place in 10 host cities in England plus Cardiff from September 18 to October 31, 2015. England 2015 is looking for 6,000 exceptional volunteers to help stage RWC 2015 and make this a truly great tournament.

As part of the Volunteer Programme England 2015 want to recognise the Rugby community who volunteer to support the Game week in, week out. England 2015 also wants to invite new potential players, volunteers and spectators to the Game, and promote legacy and involvement in the sport after RWC 2015 has finished.

Given the strength and depth of volunteering in the Rugby community it is important to recognise the contribution of existing volunteers by ensuring that 75% of the 6,000 roles go to them.

Millwall RFC has 2 nominations + 1 sub available to make.  If you are interested in applying to be a club volunteer for RWC2015 please email secretary@millwallrugby.com (or see a member of the club's management) with a paragraph on why you believe you will make a great ambassador for us.

I will then email you more information so you can be certain you can make the necessary commitment before we send in our nominations to the RFU.

Applications to club management close on 4 April so we have time to review, discuss and choose who Millwall RFC will put forward.
We will let you know if you're successful on 9 April which gives you a week to fill in the official online application form.

We are looking for volunteers who are ready to roll their sleeves up, get stuck in and potentially get wet!

Volunteering at RWC 2015 will be different to what many rugby volunteers are used to. It won’t be the same as the role you might currently perform at your club, but it will be the experience of a lifetime and something to tell the grandchildren about.

You will be the face of the RWC 2015, welcoming the world to England and to Rugby. Everyone is invited.

The application period is now open until 17 April.

If you are unsuccessful with the club application, you can still apply through the general public ballot. Get in touch with secretary@millwallrugby.com to find out how you could volunteer at RWC 2015.

EMERGENCY CLUB MEETING - WEDNESDAY 19 MARCH 9pm (after training) at the clubhouse to discuss the club's End of Season Dinner

EMERGENCY CLUB MEETING
WEDNESDAY 19 MARCH 9pm (after training) at the clubhouse
 to discuss the club's End of Season Dinner.

PLEASE ATTEND IF YOU CAN

Dear members,
As you know, we have enjoyed the privilege of holding our End of Season club dinner at the House of Commons (Westminster) for many years now.  Unfortunately this year there has been a massive change with the venue pricing structure and the cost has risen significantly, despite extensive negotiations with the venue management.

We want your input on the decision between the following:

 1- Hold the dinner at the House of Commons on the given date of 17 May, we must sell minimum 150 tickets to ensure the club does not put its finances at risk;

 2- Change the date to 24 May (although it's a long weekend) when we can hire the terrace (maximum 100 people);

 3- Cancel our booking and hold the End of Season dinner at a different (cheaper) venue on 17 May.

On Wednesday from 9pm we will provide a summary of the situation for you, hold a managed discussion with attendees, and then conduct a vote on how to go forward.

If you cannot attend but still want your view heard, please emailsecretary@millwallrugby.com and Karen will present your view on your behalf.

Thank you and hopefully see you Wednesday night.

LET'S GO TO WORK, MILLWALL!
