Clubhouse opening & key dates (w/c 30/06)

Club Openings:

Monday - Open from 8.30pm
This Monday, Ed is planning on opening the clubhouse after the touch session which is running on the park from 7pm. Come on down and have a few games of touch, enjoy the summer weather and refresh yourselves in the clubhouse afterwards.

Wednesday - Open from 7.30pm
This Wednesday Gareth will be opening the clubhouse so you can celebrate reaching the mid-point of the week and refresh yourselves after the Wednesday touch session (which starts at 7pm on Millwall park)

Thurs 3/7/14 - Thirst Thursday / Independence Eve @ the 5 Bells (our 2nd clubhouse) - from 4.30pm
You heard it right, It’s the thirst Thursday you have all been waiting for…sparkly hats, umbrellas, possible pyrotechnics and stuff you haven’t drunk since you were 12

It’s all to play for in the 5 Bells Thirst Thursday, this coming Thursday the 3rd of July from 16:30hrs. Who needs Fridays anyway, they are highly overrated, I am sure you all have holidays to burn and Mark has promised a 3rd of July extravaganza in the theme of, wait for it……., the 4th of July.

Dress for an independence theme and kick out the colonial oppressors, conversely take back the colony for Blighty using superior sideburns, Pith helmets and a stiff upper lip or just come “as you like it”.

Friday - Independence Friday - Open from 7.30pm
Karen will be opening the clubhouse from 7.30pm.

So come down and celebrate the end of the week/start of the weekend/American independence/getting rid of America from the Empire (delete as appropriate)

Saturday - Kitchen strip out from 11am, Clubhouse Open from 3pm
From 11am we are planning to strip out/paint kitchen in preparation for the new kitchen installation the following weekend - so if you can help with this, please let Gareth know or email him on gareth@millwallrugby.com

Gareth will also be your duty manager from 3pm in time for the male players 2014/15 Objectives session meeting which is being held then. Once the meeting is finished, there will be a BBQ and social night so make the effort and come down to have some input into where the club wants to go in 2014/15 and then enjoy the BBQ afterwards.

Key Dates for your diary
Sun 6/7/14 - Tour De Limehouse Festival - Millwall Tug of War team
We have been invited to enter a tug of war team (or 2/3) to this event - and it looks like we will be going toe to toe with Mark & the 5 Bells crew, so lets make sure we defeat them or we will never live it down.... Please get in touch with Ed Partridge if you want to get involved with this.

Sat 12/7/14 - New Kitchen Installation day
The kitchen has been measured up and the steel is being fabricated and will be delivered on 11th July. Gareth Hargreaves will be coordinating the event so please contact him on gareth@millwallrugby.com to register your offer of resource/skills.

We have an electrician and plumber at the ready for the day (thank you Cuddles & Struann), we are still looking for people with shelf fitting/drilling/general diy/tea making skills - so please contact Gareth if you can help in these areas

Events Volunteers

Remaining named roles that need filling are highlighted red, as a brief description for each:

Registration Secretary
   - who manages the registration of 1st team players working closely with the coach and team manager.

Programme Producer
  - officially in the Communications team, the programme is the weekly players newsletter with highlights from the previous week's matches, cumulative match statistics (available from the Stats & Caps Secretary), and perhaps some tongue in cheek "articles".

Infrastructure/Inventory Officer
  - this person is responsible for ensuring maintenance & care of equipment such as the portable lights & training gear, working with team managers and Clubhouse Officer.

We always need other volunteers to spread the workload – we all have day jobs so it’s important to be able to rely on a team of supporters.  If everyone can do just a little bit, we can get so much more done for our club.  So speak to one of the CMC members about joining their team (e.g. the Development team, the Events team, Clubhouse team...).
