"Oh no we've got Millwall next!" Saracens Touch Captain
Ladies and Gentlemen, put your hands together for Millwall’s Touch
team, The Intangibles.
I can’t think of a better start to the summer than to send our more,
ahem, experienced players to represent us in a Tournament at Allianz
Park. Wait a minute, I can think of a better way to start the summer.
And that is to send them to a Tournament to Allianz Park and for them
to win the bloody thing.
Note to Committee, with the addition of the Touch team to Millwall,
we’re going to need a bigger Trophy Cabinet.
Anyway, ably led by the Silver Fox himself, Mr James Wakefield, our 11
players creaked and limped all the way to Hendon (which when you’re
their age is the teenage equivalent of Hawaii) and then, as if by
magic, transformed themselves into Touch players floating over the 4G
surface used by Saracens RFC. Nandana Thomas, in particular, performed
so magically, that she won the Ladies MVP for the tournament.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though, this is just the start and
I for one will be hugely disappointed if we finish the summer without
additional silverware. Obviously, it’s time for the younger brigade,
(you know anyone under 35) to take over and where better to start than
next Wednesday at Surrey Quays, where we’ll be playing our first two
friendly, grading games.
I’d also like to remind everyone that we’ll be playing Touch on
Sundays at 13:00, Mondays at 19:00 and Thursdays at 19:00 on Millwall
Park throughout the summer.
Until then, once more, stand up and put your hands together for;
Michael Beech
Antonia Branston

Task Force - we need you!
Dear all
As part of the drive to ensure we are always developing the club and
pulling in the best talent, we would like to invite members to join us
at 7PM on Friday 8th May, at the clubhouse.
The aim is to set up a task force of interested members, to be
creative in looking at how the club works and how we can improve what
we do.
Neil Sweeney of the RFU will be running the evening for us and giving
ideas of the kind of thing other clubs have thought of.
Your involvement and commitment to anything going forward will depend
entirely on yourself and how you want to take this forward after the
meeting. The ongoing agenda will be defined by the members of the task
force.
Please reply to myself (chairman@millwallrugby.com)
with any indications of interest if you would like to help the club
with ideas, activity, time....
best regards
Robin Poynder

Clubhouse openings & training (w/c 20/4)
Training:
As the season has now drawn to a close - your team managers, club captains and training coordinators are currently formulating the training structure over the summer months. Please keep checking the website, facebook page and emails for updates.

Club Openings/Meetings:
Monday - Open from 7pm
Fisher & Ed will be looking after you this Monday. So make sure you come down to the clubhouse and refresh yourselves. We will have the club laptop at the end of the bar so you can buy your End of Season tickets. Rumours are that they are extending the bierfest feel with cooking up the few remaining bratwurst and pretzels (good/bad news is that there are none of those German shots left).
Wednesday - Open from 7pm
Gareth will be looking after you this Wednesday. So make sure you come down to the clubhouse and celebrate reaching the mid-point of the week and refreshing yourselves. We will have the club laptop at the end of the bar so you can buy your End of Season tickets.
Friday - Open from 7.30pm
Brigitte will be looking after you for this monthly Friday opening. So make sure you come down to the clubhouse and celebrate reaching the end of the week and refreshing yourselves. We will have the club laptop at the end of the bar so you can buy your End of Season tickets.
Saturday - Open from 6pm
As the season is over, we will be having later opening times on Saturdays (unless there is a specific event). Robin will be looking after you this Saturday, so pop down and keep him company.
As with all clubhouse openings, the duty manager may close early dependant on demand.
Thank you's
I would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped out and made the bierfest a great success.
I would also like to thank the duty managers and bar staff who help out to keep the beer flowing all year long so all you great people can keep hydrated (as well as thanks to everyone for drinking there (responsibly) of course)!!

Important Notes:
Membership
You must be a currently paid up member of the Club to vote (for elections or for awards) or to stand for an elected position. If you're not a member yet, please see our website to pay online in advance of the meeting.Nominations for Elected Roles
If you would like to stand for one of the ELECTED positions listed in item 5, you should submit a nomination in by email to Karen Anderson (secretary@millwallrugby.com) by 1pm on Saturday 23rd May.Please see the current list here.
Potential candidates are strongly encouraged to find out what is involved in the role by referring to the role descriptions on the club website committee page or by asking a current or past post-holder.
Candidates may be considered for election to more than one position if the electing members believe it is in the best interests of the club.
Volunteer Vacancies
The list of volunteer vacancies is a guide, based upon experience, of some of the ways you could still help out if you don't want the responsibility of an elected position. However the club cannot run if we are left with too many of the elected roles left vacant, so the priority for the meeting must be to fill the Elected Roles.Voting at the meeting
Voting will be carried out by secret ballot (on paper) and voters will be able to choose between each of the candidates plus an option "none of the above/re-open nominations".Per article 24.2 of the Articles of Association, where there is only one candidate for a particular position they must gain at least 50% of the votes cast to be elected.
Article 25 explains what will happen if any of the elected roles remain unfilled.
Voting in absentia by proxy
- Members are not obliged to vote if they do not wish to do so.
- If you are not able to attend the AGM in person, you may nominate a proxy to vote on your behalf by giving them and the Chairman\Acting Secretary notice of this in writing (email preferred) by 1pm on Wednesday 27th May. Where this is not done, the proxy vote will not be accepted.
- Your proxy must be a current club member and no club member may carry more than 5 proxy votes. You should instruct your proxy how to vote on your behalf.
- If you are unable to find a willing proxy, current club officers will act as proxy for you and will accept written instructions on how to vote on your behalf.
- We want members to attend the meeting and take part in the discussions so please do make every effort to attend in person. It's your club and it’s run by the members for the members.
Want to understand more about how the club committees work?
We recommend all members aquaint themselves the Operating Guide to the Management Committee and Subcommittees which can be found on the website in the "Club" section.Karen Anderson, Secretary
