Games this weekend - 5th October 2013

Evening Millwall,

Another 100% weekend this weekend with the thirds rolling over Old Brents 61-7 at home in the only game, and I hear that tonights backs session was useful so good work all around.

We have a full calendar of games this weekend with all three teams in action, and with a strong past couple of weeks, let's keep this momentum going throughout the season.

1sts vs May and Baker @ home

2nds vs Wanstead II's @ home

3rds @ Ilford (now away)

Email me at selection@millwallrugby.com with a yes or a no to let me know your availability.

It should be a good night in the club afterwards so let's make sure to get as many players out as possible, I want three full squads taking to the field and a dominant weekend.

Also, the ever popular Thirst Thursdays are back this week to whet your appetite for the weekend and allow you a Friday night in to be raring to play or support come Saturday. This month we'll be in the Ledger building in the Wharf. A table is booked in the name of Johanna from 6pm so get yourself down there.

See everyone at training on Wednesday.

Games this Weekend - 28th September

Evening Millwallians,

Fantastic results this weekend with the firsts beating Brightlingsea 21-7 with 14 men to go top of the league and the Llamas winning 35-15 at home. Unfortunately we weren't able to fulfil the third team game as there weren't enough bodies.

With that in mind let's get a full contingent of games fulfilled this week, there's only two matches so there's no excuses:

1st XV - bye week since Phantoms have pulled out of the league

2nd XV @ Canvey 2nds

3rd XV @ home vs Old Brents 3s

Let us know if you're available by replying to selection@millwallrugby.com with a yes or no and let's get two strong teams out this weekend.

Thanks to everyone who came down for the forwards session tonight, we made some good progress on lineouts and continuity play. Backs session next Monday at 7 on the park.

See you at training on Wednesday.

Forwards Training - This Monday (23rd September)

Guys,

Firstly, massive congratulations on two wins this weekend, huge character and pride shown in the face of adversity.  For 14 players to win away in the league is remarkable and shows what should be achieved for the rest of this season.  But such achievement will only be reached through hard work and training.

We have barely scratched the surface of our potential and therefore this Monday will be a training session purely for the forwards.

Date: 23rd September
Time: 7.15pm sharp
Venue: Millwall Park

This session is hugely important for the season ahead as we will work on our pods and more importantly, our lineouts and variations.

If you can't make it, please let me know asap by email: headcoach@millwallrugby.com or text: 07789 942430.

See you all tomorrow

David

Following the success from last year, let's start with a RUBIXCUBE night! In case you're not sure what it is about, here is the quick "Urban dictionary" definition:

"Every attendee must dress in six different items of clothing, which are the colours of one of the sides of a rubixcube. Each colour must only be used once. Party goers must then swap items of clothing until they are dressed in a single colour."

We'll be open as on usual Saturday nights as we have 3 matches this weekend, so come and join the fun (don't forget you red, green, blue, etc clothes and accessories)!

The 3 games this weekend are:
    1st XV @ Brightlingsea
2nd XV @ Home vs Loughton
    3rd XV @ Southend 6s

New 1st XV Sponsor!

I am delighted to announce a new sponsor for our men’s 1st XV for the 2013/2014 season.

Chattels of London are supplying new shirts for the first team as well as water bottles for the whole club. They are also providing a full-page advert in The Wharf newspaper for the club, which will advertise our fixtures for the season and encourage new members and supporters to join. They will also advertise the same in their flyer advertising around the local area.

Chattels are also offering a very generous discount, just for Millwall Rugby Club members. They are offering a 20% discount on their standard fees for renting or selling their property and will waive their administration fee for anyone renting a property through them. Just tell them you are a member of the club when you first make contact and, upon verification of your valid membership, you will receive your discount.

James Kearns of Chattels said “Chattels Of London are proud to be sponsoring Millwall Rugby Club and hope that this is the start of a partnership that will see the first team push from strength to strength. We believe that competitive sport encourages team spirit and hope this will extend beyond into the local community to give us a local team we can all support and enjoy!”

I would like to thanks James Kearns of Chattels for his support and for what I think will be a great partnership for the club. I would also like to thank Gareth Parkhill and Sophie Buckman for introducing him.

There are plenty of potential sponsors out there. You know some yourself. The more introductions we can all make, the better the club can be. So, if you can think of anyone who you might want to support the club, please let me know.

Games this weekend and players meeting Wednesday

Evening All,

After a slow start we managed to put in a strong performance this weekend over at Upper Clapton and congratulations to the 3rds beating Ravens. There's three big games this weekend marking the start of the competitive season for all of us. We're going to need a lot of players so make sure to make yourselves available.

Games are:

1st XV @ Mill Hill (RFU Junior Vase)

2nd XV @ Ongar I

3rd XV @ Home vs Wanstead III

Email selection@millwallrugby.com with a Yes or No to let us know your availability.

Also, after training on Wednesday there will be a short players meeting about how things will be running throughout the season, so make sure to keep a bit of time free. Also, Gareth will be doing curry on Wednesday again so if you can't be bothered to cook after training grab a curry with the rest of us. He'll be ordering it while we train so it'll be there when we come in.

See everyone on Wednesday.
