Updated Programme Millwall vs Rest of the World Day - Sat 28th April

Here's the programme for Saturday:

Updated Programme (updated 25/4/12 7pm)

1100-1230 U13s
1300-1400 Venus game
1430-1600 1st XV vs Bancroft
1600-1730 England vs Rest of the World
1730-Late After-Party and Rick's leaving drinks in our clubhouse.

What we need you to do

Tell all your friends about it. Accept and share the Facebook event. This is a prime recruitment opportunity for the club and a great way to show people what Millwall is all about. Bring your friends, wives, girlfriends, husbands and boyfriends.

What's it all about?

For those of you new to the club, this is when Millwall's English players dress in club colours and take on the club's invaders from other nations and far away places, such as Wales or Irishland. They play in a shirt from their home nation.

Traditionally, we've converted the paddock at Mudchute Farm into the battleground for this event, but that take a lot of helpers, which we've sadly not had step forward this year. Furthermore, Dave has not been able to get confirmation from the Farm that we can use the paddock.

So this year we've decided to hold the games on Millwall Park and take full advantage of our clubhouse facilities alongside. Apart from being a little easier to organise, this has one key benefit in that it makes the event much more visible locally and we can show prospective players how welcoming we can be as a club.

Want to play?

Our England Manager is George Mulock and the ROW team is being managed by Rick Jacobs and Ralph Bond.

If you want to play in the Eng vs ROW or the 1st XV game, please email selection@millwallrugby.com.

Venus, please email venus@millwallrugby.com. Youth, please email your team manager or youth@millwallrugby.com.

Any questions or want to offer your help?

Please contact Daniel Bellinger who's kindly project managing the event this year: socialsecretary@millwallrugby.com.

Secretary

Annual Dinner & Awards 2012
30th June

Tickets are now on sale for the club's Annual Dinner at the Houses of Parliament.

This year, with only 90 tickets to sell (vs up to 180 last year), we are reasonably confident of a sell out so you should book early if you want to be sure of getting a ticket.

Compared with the standard prices, you can save between £5 and £15 by booking your ticket early, before 22nd May.

Nomination of Honorary Life Members

The management committee would like to remind members of the nomination process for Honorary Life Membership.

Honorary Life membership confers the same benefits of Life Membership, but may be awarded from time to time at the Management Committee's discretion.  Cases when the committee might decide to award life membership might include (but are not limited to):

  • Significant contribution (in effort, in time, professional services, pro bono work, or financial) to the club or the club's affiliated charity. Usually the monetary value would significantly exceed the normal cost of buying life membership.
  • Long service or particular dedication in some way to the club as a volunteer, committee member or similar.
Honorary Life Membership may be removed at the club's committee's discretion, in the event of misconduct or instances of bringing the club into disrepute. In the rare and unlikely event of this happening, this would probably only be done at the recommendation of a properly convened club disciplinary committee. Honorary Life Membership can, of course, be awarded to current life members or life member partners, but no refund would be due.

So how do you nominate someone?

  • Any paid up club member can nominate another person for Honorary Life Membership by emailing or writing to any of the current club management committee members who will ask the secretary to include it for discussion at the next CMC meeting where time is available.

Appeal for "Rest of the World Day" helpers

We are still looking for willing volunteers to help with a number of distinct tasks in order to make our annual tradition of Rest of the World day happen smoothly.

If you will be available on 28th April and in the days leading up to the day please contact David Leftley or Daniel Bellinger.

Those of you familiar with the day will know what's involved. Those of you new to the club can contact Dave or Daniel for more information about the things we need help with.

Cheers
